Purple Porridge

1/3 cup porridge grains of your choice (NOT quick oats)

my favourite is Macro 5 Grains Porridge - link below

1 cup liquid - water or your favourite alternative milk

I use 1/2 cup oat milk and 1/2 cup boiling water

1/4 cup mixed berries

1/4 cup unsweetened tinned apples (optional)


1 tbsp unsweetened greek yoghurt and sliced fruit, to serve


Put all ingredients into a small saucepan and simmer (do not allow to boil) until the desired consistency is achieved. I know mine is cooked right when I can pull the wooden spoon across the bottom of the saucepan and can count to three before the porridge comes back together.


Serve warm with yoghurt and sliced fruit of your choice.


Porridge can be made in advance, kept in the fridge and reheated in the microwave or stovetop.
